Timothy C. Hauenstein Reynolds Township Library offers anyone with a library card the opportunity to “borrow” heirloom, open-pollinated and hybrid seeds through the Free Seed Bank. 

The goal is to create a self-sustaining seed library where growers who “borrow” seeds will save and return seeds to the library after they have harvested their crops. Those seeds will then be offered to borrowers during the next growing season and the cycle can repeat itself. Over time, the seeds become stronger and increasingly acclimated to local area growing conditions.

How it works

• A limit of up to five packets of seeds per person, per day may be "borrowed".
• Choose up to five packets from the Free Seed Bank located inside the library.
• We have many varieties and types of seeds available. Be sure to browse through them all!
• Bring your selections to the Circulation Desk and present your library card for us to check them out to you. (If you do not have a library card, we can still help you check them out.)

2. Promote the TCHRTL Seed Bank to your friends, family, and the community.
3. Read and learn more about seed starting and saving at the library.
4. Donate! We would love to have you donate seeds back to the Library once your growing season is over.
