About the Event
Discover the dangers and dramatic realities of rail travel in early 20th-century Michigan during an engaging talk with Michigan Railroad Historian Mark Worrall. On Thursday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Reynolds Township Library Program Center, Worrall will delve into how historians research Michigan rail wrecks, the main causes behind these disasters, and the lessons learned from them. The presentation will feature compelling examples from across the state, including case studies of some of Michigan’s most infamous and locally significant—train wrecks, such as the 1901 Lake Shore & Michigan Southern collision near White Pigeon. History enthusiasts and curious community members alike will gain a deeper understanding of how these events shaped railroad safety and Michigan’s past.
