About the Event
Join us for a screening of 1969: Killers, Freaks and Radicals (1 hour, 51 minutes, Not Rated) followed by a Q+A with Director Andrew Templeton. at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20 at the Reynolds Twp. Library Program Center. This independent documentary examines a chilling chapter of Michigan history against the backdrop of the political unrest and cultural change of the late 1960s, and explores a series of brutal murders that terrorized the neighboring university communities of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. As fear spread across the campuses of the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, local law enforcement struggled to identify those responsible. Through historical research and firsthand accounts, the documentary examines the social and political climate of the era while drawing connections to issues that continue to resonate today. This event is FREE and open to all ages.
