About the Event
Join us on Thursday, Apr. 23, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m. for a presentation on the history and legacy of the Mt. Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School. Guest speaker David Moore, President of the Swan Creek and Black River Bands of the First Nation, will share insights into the school’s history, the experiences of Native children who were forced to attend, and the lasting impact of the federal boarding school system on Native communities. Drawing on historical research and community perspectives, Moore will discuss the importance of remembrance, education, and ongoing efforts to acknowledge this chapter of history. This program offers an opportunity to learn, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversation about the legacy of the boarding school era in our region. This event is open to all. No registration required.
