About the Event

Join Michigan Author Dan Ellens for a special evening at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 at the Reynolds Township Library Program Center. Ellens will discuss his new young adult novel Forest Legend: The Tale of Ol' Split Toe, a work of magical realism and wilderness adventure set deep in the Michigan woods and perfect for tweens, teens, and adult readers alike! The story follows Split Toe, a remarkable buck marked with the duty to remember the land’s past, as he is drawn through centuries of change without ever leaving his forest home. From Ice Age hunters to Ojibwe trackers, from logging camps to homesteads, Split Toe witnesses the transformation of the wilderness and feels the weight of what is lost. As human impact grows, his role shifts from observer to protector, especially after forming an unexpected connection with a boy who makes the forest’s story personal. Blending folklore, history…
